Promotion of Urban Biodiversity Conservation Through Natural Education by Botanical Gardens
Nature education by botanical gardens is a crucial way to disseminate plant science and culture and promotes,public partic-ipation,one of the critical issues for urban biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.Based on the functional orientation and mission of the botanical garden,this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of different dimensions between the botanical garden,nature education,public demand,urban green landscape,and species conservation actions exploring the path between nature education and urban biodiversity conservation in the botanical garden.From the perspectives of"people"and"environment,"this paper proposes a conservation education model,coupling"research,science popularization,protection,and application"in the public education of rare and endangered plants,to promote the exsitu biodiversity and conservation in botan-ical gardens and nature reserves.At the same time,the"Whole Garden Interpretation System","Characteristic Nature Educa-tion Project",and"Volunteer Cultivation Program"of Shanghai Botanical Garden.In the future,we hope to combine the efforts of all parties to build a mechanism for diverse and sustainable participation,enhance public awareness and understanding of the current situation,and promote biodiversity conservation in the city.
