Objective To understand the situation of myopia of primary school students in a city in Hebei Province from 2020 to 2021,and to provide reference for the establishment of prevention and control measures of myopia.Methods The vision screening data of primary school students in a city from 2020 to 2021 was collected using stratified cluster random sampling,including 20 552 in 2020 and 20 602 in 2021.The criteria for vision screening and myopia determination were conducted according to the Standard for Screening Myopia in Children and Adolescents.Results The myopic rate of primary school students participating in the survey in 2021 was 38.68%(7 969/20 602),lower than that of 40.47%(8 313/20 552)in 2020,and the difference was statistically significant(x2=13.820,P<0.01).In both 2021 and 2020,the myopia rates of female students were higher than those of male students,and the differences were statistically significant(x2=52.771,47.604,P<0.01).The myopia rates of students in urban areas were higher than those of students in suburban counties,and the differences were statistically significant(x2=11.750,70.912,P<0.01).All myopia rates increased with the increase of grade,and the differences were statistically significant(x2=2 204.903,2 364.109,P<0.01).The proportion of mild myopia decreased with the increase of grade,while the proportion of high myopia increased with the increase of grade in 2020,increased with the increase of grade from grade 4,and increased rapidly in grades 5 and 6 in 2021.Conclusion The situation of myopia rate of primary school students in a city in Hebei Province is not optimistic.We should focus on attention to strengthen the prevention and control of myopia in primary school.
