Objective To investigate the composition, seasonal regression, and densities of rodent populations in urban and rural human settlements in Sichuan Province,so as to provide a scientific basis for guiding the prevention and control of rodents. Methods In 2021,fourteen cities were selected as surveillance sites in Sichuan Province.Rodent density was monitored monthly. Each monitoring site included two habitat types, urban and rural human settlements.Statistical analyses of surveillance data were performed using Excel 2013 and SPSS 20.0 software, with rodent density disparities assessed through Chi-square tests. Results In 2021,a total of 500 rodents were captured, with an average density of 0.74%.Density in urban habitat of rodents was 0.58%,while in rural habitat of rodents was 0.90%.The disparity in rodent densities between different habitats was statistically significant(x2=7.798,P=0.005).It was found that Rattus norvegicus was the dominant species in urban habitat, whereas Anourosorex squamipes was the dominant species in rural habitat.Overall, rodent density displayed irregular distribution throughout the year. Conclusion This study has basically grasped the composition and seasonal regression of the rodent population in Sichuan Province. It is recommended to strengthen integrated rodent management efforts to maintain rodent density at lower levels.
