Analysis of overweight and obesity detection among adult medical check-up population from 2019 to 2021 in Xining City,Qinghai Province
Objective To analyze the overweight and obesity level and epidemic trend among the adult medical check-up population from 2019 to 2021 in Xining City,Qinghai Province,and to provide a scientific basis for local health departments to assess the rational dietary actions.Methods A total of 324 613 adult medical check-up people from 11 provincial and municipal medical institutions in Xining from 2019 to 2021 were selected.The detection rates of overweight and obesity in medical check-up population among different gender and age groups were analyzed by the Chi-square test.Results The average age of the medical check-up objects was(39.71±12.48)years old.From 2019 to 2021,the number of overweight and obesity individuals detected was 111 126 and 36 213,with overweight and obesity rates of 34.23%and 11.16%,respectively.The overweight and obesity rates among the male medical check-up population(41.93%and 14.09%)were higher than those of the female medical check-up population(22.54%and 6.70%),with statistically significant differences(x2=12 966.581,4 287.112,P<0.001).With increasing age,the overweight and obesity rates in both male and female medical check-up populations showed an upward trend(x2male trend=3 361.704,1 196.341,x2female trend=4 522.620,1 512.913,all P<0.001).The standardized overweight and obesity rates among both male and female medical check-up populations showed an upward trend from 2019 to 2021,and the average annual growth rates of overweight and obesity were 1.07%and 2.89%,respectively,with statistically significant differences(x2trend=750.761,266.811,P<0.001).Conclusion The overweight and obesity rates among adult the medical check-up population in Xining City,Qinghai Province,are comparatively high,and present the characteristics of higher rates in males than females and an annual upward trend.It is needed for targeted dietary health education and advocation of eating and exercise balance should be carried out to prevent and control overweight and obesity in the population as early as possible.
