A survey on the awareness rates of prevention and treatment knowledge of viral hepatitis type C among 447 medical staff
Objective To understand the awareness of prevention and treatment knowledge of viral hepatitis type C(referred to as hepatitis C)among medical staff, and to provide a reference basis for improving the level of prevention and treatment of hepatitis C.Methods A questionnaire was used to survey 447 medical staff in 2021,which covered general sociodemographic characteristics, basic knowledge of hepatitis C,transmission risks, case reports, and treatment measures and other related contents.SPSS 23.0 software was used to conduct univariate Chi square test and multifactorial logistic regression analysis on the influencing factors of the awareness rates of prevention and treatment knowledge of hepatitis C among medical staff. Results The total awareness rate of prevention and treatment knowledge of hepatitis C among 447 medical staff was 31.99%.The awareness rate of knowledge of case report was the lowest at 21.03%,and the awareness rate of knowledge of transmission risk was the highest at 97.54%.The results of univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the awareness rates of prevention and treatment knowledge of hepatitis C among medical staff of different ages, years of work, hospital types, and whether or not they had received training on hepatitis C within one year(x2=12.80,8.50,20.47,16.40,P<0.05).Multifactorial analysis showed that the age range of 30-<40 years(95%CI:1.02-3.14,P=0.04)and 40-<50 years(95%CI:1.24-4.41,P=0.01),years of work of 10-<20 years(95%CI:1.15-3.41,P=0.01),county hospital in hospital types(95%CI:1.51-5.36,P<0.01),and having received hepatitis C knowledge training within one year(95%CI:1.58-3.84,P<0.01)were the main factors affecting the awareness rates of prevention and treatment knowledge of hepatitis C among medical staff. Conclusion The surveyed medical staff has a low awareness rate of prevention and treatment knowledge of hepatitis C,especially the ambiguous classification of case diagnosis. It is urgent to strengthen the professional training for hepatitis C and improve the level of diagnosis and treatment.
