Xue Yu is a renowned pharmaceutical educator in modern China,whose study abroad experi-ence in pharmacy reflects a high degree of alignment between global trends and personal choices.From his return to China before the founding of the People's Republic of China to the post-1949 period,his pharma-ceutical educational philosophy,though influenced by the French,German,and Soviet models,emphasized adaptation to China's national conditions.He critically reflected on the shortcomings of foreign pharmaceu-tical education and sought to adjust and reform China's pharmaceutical education,thereby pioneering new directions.From imitation to autonomy and finally to innovation,Xue Yu,as a representative figure in China's transitional era of medical education,exemplifies the difficult exploration and original spirit of Chinese intellectuals in learning western thoughts and cultures.Analyzing Xue Yu's educational philoso-phy and practices provides valuable insights for contemporary pharmaceutical education in China.
