In the High Middle Ages,the popes issued a series of"medical injunctions"through decrees and resolutions of reli-gious councils,which have long been regarded as evidence of the suppression of the development of medicine;however,judging from the text of the decrees,these"medical injunctions"were only intended to combat malpractice within the Church to better promote theologi-cal research;and the Church's attitude toward secular medicine eventually fused its doctrines with medical theories in its intervention in medical research.However,from the text of the decrees,these"medical injunctions"were only to combat the internal malpractice of the Church in order to better promote theological research;and the Church's attitude towards secular medicine eventually fused its teach-ings with medical theories in its intervention in medical research,and the continuous development of ecclesiastical medicine has laid a solid foundation for the globalization of Western medicine since then.
