By analyzing 34 cases of civil dispute appraisal and second trial of medical damage in Liaoning Province in 2022,it is found that there are some problems in such appraisal in China,such as improper initiation of procedures,lack of impartiality and scienti-ficity,serious phenomenon of"using appraisal instead of trial"and insufficient supervision.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the court's control over the initiation procedure of appraisal and the substantive examination of appraisal opinions,ensure the neutrality and scientificity of appraisal opinions,and strengthen the overall supervision of appraisal.And making full use of pre-litigation commis-sioned appraisal will greatly improve the efficiency of solving civil medical disputes.
