Objective Based on the differences of coronary artery anatomy between rat and human, echocardiography was used to investigate the effects of ligation of left anterior descending artery and left circumflex artery on left ventricular structure and ejection fraction. Methods 24 Wistar rats were randomly divided into left anterior descending artery(LAD)group and left circumflex artery(LCX)group according to age.Left atrial diameter, left ventricular diameter and volume, left ventricular ejection fraction and so on were observed by echocardiography. Results Compared with the two groups, the heart rate, left atrial diameter and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter increased after surgery(P<0.05),and left ventricul ar ejection fraction decreased(P<0.05),with statistical differences, but there was no significant difference in aortic diameter before and after surgery(P>0.05).Further analysis showed that the left atrial diameter and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter increased and left ventricular ejection fraction decreased in LCX group after operation compared with that before operation(P<0.05),but there was no statistical difference in the former compared with LAD group(P<0.05).Conclusion Ligation of the circumflex branch can also enlarge the left atrioventricular and affect the left ventricular ejection function, but the latter has less effect than the descending branch before ligation.
