Objective To explore the imaging features and diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and computed tomography(CT)in lumbar disc herniation. Methods A total of 88 patients with suspected lumbar disc herniation who were treated in Rushan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2020 to September 2022 were selected.CT and MRI scans were performed on all patients, and the results of surgery were taken as the"gold standard"for diagnosis. The detection status, imaging characteristics and diagnostic efficiency of CT and MRI in lumbar disc herniation were analyzed. Results There was no statistical difference between CT and MRI in the detection rate of disc herniation, disc herniation, disc free and disc bulging(P>0.05).The detection rate of MRI scan in disc degeneration, nerve root compression, dural sac compression and spinal cord deformation was higher than those of CT scan, with statistical difference(P<0.05).The sensitivity and accuracy of MRI in the diagnosis of lumbar disc herniation were higher than that of CT,with statistical difference(P<0.05),while there was no statistical difference in the specificity of the two methods(P>0.05).Conclusion Both CT and MRI can differentiate and diagnose lumbar disc herniation, but MRI has a higher accuracy in detecting the imaging features of lumbar disc herniation, which can be used as the first choice imaging scanning method for clinical differential diagnosis of lumbar disc herniation, and provide effective reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment, worthy of promotion and application.
