Objective To investigate the application of carotid ultrasound in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 106 patients with ischemic stroke who were treated in Beijing Haidian District Wenquan Town Community Health Service Center from January to December 2023 were selected as the observation group, and 106 healthy subjects during the same period were selected as the control group.Carotid artery ultrasonography was performed.Carotid intima-media index, carotid artery stenosis degree,intima-media thickness(IMT)and carotid hemodynamics[peak systolic velocity(PSV),end-diastolic velocity(EDV),resistance index(RI)]were compared between the two groups. Results The normal rate of the inner media membrane in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the thickening rate and plaque formation rate of the inner media membrane were higher than that in the control group, and bilateral plaques and multiple plaques were more common(P<0.05).The rate of carotid artery stenosis in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the rates of mild, moderate, severe stenosis and complete occlusion were higher(P<0.05).The IMT of observation group was higher than that of control group, the lumen diameter was lower than that of control group, the common carotid artery PSV and EDV were lower than that of control group, and RI was higher than that of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Carotid ultrasound has significant effect in patients with ischemic stroke, which can effectively detect carotid atherosclerotic plaque, clarify the degree of carotid artery stenosis, analyze the properties of plaque, and measure carotid blood flow dynamics, providing a reliable basis for the diagnosis and evaluation of ischemic stroke.
