Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of ischemic stroke,so early diagnosis of atherosclerotic carotid artery stenosis is crucial. In recent years, various emerging imaging techniques can not only accurately measure the degree of carotid artery stenosis, but also evaluate the nature of plaque, shorten the examination time, and reduce contrast dose. The purpose of this article is to summarize the latest imaging advances in atherosclerotic carotid artery stenosis, and based on these advances,to provide better diagnostic and therapeutic options for clinical application. By using advanced imaging techniques, physicians can identify high-risk patients earlier, thereby reducing the incidence of ischemic stroke.
