Application of the Rotary Disc-on-disc Tribo-test-rigin Evaluation for Continuously Variable Transmission Fluids
For the first time, the German rotary disc-on-disc tribo-test-rig(WAZAU),which can highly simulate the working conditions of automobile clutch discs, was used to compare the anti-shudder properties of two kinds of continuously variable transmission fluids(CVTF)prepared in the laboratory. The test results were verified by the traditional low velocity friction apparatus(LVFA)specified by the industry standard. The results show that the anti-shudder property of CVTF B measured by WAZAU is better than that of CVTF A,which is consistent with the results of LVFA.Compared with the characteristics of LVFA bench, which consumes more fuel and has a long range, the test time required by WAZAU is shortened, and the fuel consumption is only 50 mL.Therefore,WAZAU can quickly and effectively compare the anti-shudder properties of CVTF,which is convenient for rapid comparison and screening of a wide variety of additives and base oils in the laboratory. In addition,WAZAU is more intuitive and effective in detecting the noise of CVTF friction process, which is more conducive to judging the occurrence of stick-slip.
