Cultural Communication and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations in the Trade of the Maritime Silk Road:Cultural Memory in the Ceramic Wares of Changsha Kiln
The Maritime Silk Road can be traced back to the Qin and Han dynasties, and was a maritime route for people to explore the ocean and engage in trade and cultural exchange between the East and the West through navigation. The Changsha kiln, located in the central Yangtze River region, was a folk kiln that mainly produced ceramics for export during the Tang Dynasty.Extensive archaeological discoveries along the Maritime Silk Road have shown that Changsha Kiln ceramics have integrated abundant ancient Arab and Persian cultural styles into the profound Chu and Central Plains cultures. They encode texts, legends, totems, ritual songs and dances embedded in different cultures, and fix them as a historical cultural symbol in the ceramic carrier;maritime trade not only brings about goods trading, but also deep-rooted cultural and technological exchanges, indicating that the Maritime Silk Road is not only a trade route, but also a rich cultural exchange route, and the Changsha kiln provides an important sample for the study of this exchange route.
