The coordinated development of Changsha and Yueyang is an inevitable requirement for Hunan to implement the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital and giving full play to the core radiation function of the provincial capital Changsha.Based on the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and"the Belt and Road"initiative,as well as strategic considerations such as the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital,the strategy of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Metropolitan Circle,and the development strategies of Changsha and Yueyang,this paper discusses the important strategic significance of the extension of Changsha's urban development strategic space to Dongting Lake District.Furthermore,the advantages and disadvantages of spatial synergistic development between Changsha and Yueyang were analyzed.Finally,a planning strategy for the spatial synergistic development of Changsha and Yueyang was proposed in six aspects:strategic positioning,spatial layout,transportation system,industrial development,environmental protection,and mechanism innovation.
