The Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Population Shrinkage in Traditional Industrial Cities in the Three Provinces of Northeast China
Since the 1980s,technological innovations in production organization and management as well as communication and transportation have accelerated the migration of capital and labor,and deepened the imbalance of regional development. The contraction phenomenon characterized by population reduction has occurred in traditional industry cities. From the perspective of Marxist Spatial political economy theory,this paper deconstructs the functional connotation of urban space,discriminates the relationship mechanism between urban space and population contraction,takes the traditional industrial cities in the three provinces of Northeast China as research cases,empirically analyzes the influencing factors of urban population contraction,and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to curb population contraction in terms of upgrading the spatial quality of traditional industrial cities,which will help to realize the high-quality development of traditional industrial cities and the comprehensive revitalization of the three provinces of Northeast China.
