Acoustic Characteristics and Communicative Realization of Prosodic Boundary in News Broadcasting
Prosodic boundary is an important cue for oral communication, and its perception is highly dependent on acoustic cues.Taking the reading materials from CCTV news as the object, the present study investigates the acoustic characteristics of prosodic boundary syllables using acoustic analysis. The results show that the duration of prosodic boundary syllables is longer than that of non-boundary syllables, while the pitch and intensity of prosodic boundary syllables are lower than that of non-boundary syllables. In addition, creaky voice occurs with Tone 2 and Tone 3.Regarding articulation, both males and females have sound resonance effects, with enhanced high-frequency energy, and males have speaker's formant. This study not only reveals the prosodic characteristics of news broadcasting, but also provides certain guidance for broadcasting teaching practice.
