The Promoting Role of Complex Adaptive Systems Theory in the Transformation of Applied Linguistics Studies
As a cutting-edge theory of basic applicability in Applied Linguistics,Complex Adaptive Systems Theory(CAS),with the innovative core concepts and wide range of applicability,has received great attention from the global linguistic community.To investigate the promoting role of CAS theory in Applied Linguistics and its further development,this paper analyzes the key topics and dynamic development of CAS theory at home and abroad through the BERTopic model and the Citespace Knowledge Graph.The results reveal that the CAS theory has promoted new developments in Applied Linguistics from aspects such as system framework,research methods,interdisciplinary integration,individual differences,interactive mechanisms and technological innovation.It has also helped make new breakthroughs in other linguistic research fields.Finally,this study discusses the important role and development of CAS theory in Applied Linguistics in the future,to provide new perspectives and insights for studies of Applied Linguistics in China.
