Older People's Language as Lived:Triple-Layered Meaning-Making of Umwelt-Innenwelt-Lebenswelt
This paper explores the question of how language is being lived over an individual's lifespan.Life is understood as the experiencer makes sense of living by way of experiencing here-and-now nonstop from womb to tomb.Infants make sense by first building Umwelt, then Innenwelt and Lebenswelt on the top of each. The 3-welt layers of situated living become enriched all the way long until death(a≦x≦b,0≦L≦0).Diseases such as AD,schizophrenia may cause the 3-welt layers to disfunction and disintegration, which are demonstrated by real-life cases taken from the Multimodal Corpora of Gerontic Discourse(MCGD).The central role that thinking and inner speech play in everyday life is anatomized and illustrated through daily audio-video journals kept by older people.
