To investigate the effect of cyber-ostracism on exter-nalizing problems of adolescents and its mechanism,a sample of 2,584 junior middle school students were surveyed. The results revealed that:cyber-ostracism could influence externalizing problems of adolescents through the mediating effect of self-control.Besides,belief in a just world could moderate the direct effect of cyber-ostracism on externalizing problems and the mediating effect of self-control.Specifically,belief in a just world could alleviate the negative effects of cy-ber-ostracism,but this protective effect was limited. The results provide new perspectives on the preven-tion and intervention of externalizing problems in adolescents.
