To Observe the Effect of Carotid Artery Stenting Combined with Standardized Secondary Prevention of Cerebrovascular Disease on Patients with Severe Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis
Objective To investigate the effect of carotid artery stenting combined with standard secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease on cognitive function in patients with severe extracranial stenosis of the internal carotid artery. Methods A total of 68 patients with severe extracranial stenosis of the internal carotid artery treated in the Third People's Hospital of Jinan from September 2021 to March 2023 were selected and divided into control group and observation group with 34 patients in each group according to different treatment methods. On the basis of basic disease treatment, the control group adopted standard secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease, while the observation group completed carotid artery stent implantation and adhered to standard secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease. The mental state, cognitive function, adverse mood, activity of daily living, and neurological function deficit score were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the scores of mini-mental state examination(MMSE)and montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA)in the two groups were improved, and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)in both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the activity of daily living scale(ADL)scores of both groups were improved, and the observation group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the neurological impairment(NIHSS)score of both groups was decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Carotid artery stenting combined with standard secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease can significantly improve the mental state, cognitive function, adverse mood, activities of daily living, and neurological deficits in patients with severe extracranial stenosis of the internal carotid artery. This treatment strategy helps improve the quality of life and recovery effect of patients.
