A comparative Study on the Effects of Natamycin Eye Drops and Voriconazole Eye Drops on Patients with fungal Keratitis
Objective To compare the therapeutic effects of natamycin eye drops and voriconazole eye drops on patients with fungal keratitis. Methods A total of 50 patients with fungal keratitis admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University from October 2020 to October 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into conventional group and experimental group using a completely randomized design, with 25 patients in each group. The conventional group was treated with voriconazole, while the experimental group was treated with natamycin. The disease control rate, symptom improvement time, ulcer area, visual acuity, and ocular surface disease index(OSDI)scores were compared between the two groups after treatment. Results The effective rate of disease control in the experimental group(96.00%)was higher than that in the conventional group(76.00%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The improvement time of symptoms in the experimental group was shorter than that in the conventional group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the ulcer area of both groups significantly decreased, and the experimental group was lower than the conventional group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the visual acuity level and OSDI score of the two groups significantly improved, and the experimental group was higher than the conventional group, while the OSDI score was lower than that in the conventional group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The overall effect of treating fungal keratitis with natamycin eye drops is better than that of voriconazole eye drops. It can quickly control symptoms, reduce ulcer area, improve vision, and alleviate corneal damage.
