Objective To investigate the effects of narrative nursing on mental toughness, treatment compliance, and quality of life in patients with epilepsy. Methods A total of 104 patients with epilepsy who received treatment in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical College from February 2021 to April 2022 were selected and divided into the intervention group(n=52,narrative care)and the control group(n=52,routine care)according to random number table method. The psychological toughness, treatment compliance, and quality of life of the two groups were compared. Results There was no significant difference in the scores of the connor-davidson resilience scale(CD-RISC)(strength,optimism,and tenacity)between the two groups(P>0.05).The CD-RISC scores of both groups were improved 1 month after discharge, and the intervention group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The treatment compliance rate of the intervention group(98.08%)was higher than that of the control group(82.69%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in quality of life in epilepsy-31(QOLIE-31)scores(emotional health, seizure anxiety,energy/fatigue,cognitive function, drug influence, social function, comprehensive quality of life, and general health level)between the two groups at admission(P>0.05).One month after discharge, the scores of the two groups were improved, and the intervention group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of narrative nursing in the intervention of epilepsy patients can promote the improvement of mental toughness, treatment compliance, and quality of life.
