Efficacy and Safety of carotid Endarterectomy for Patients with extracranial carotid Artery Stenosis
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of carotid endarterectomy in the treatment of extracranial carotid artery stenosis patients. Methods A total of 42 patients with extracranial carotid artery stenosis who met surgical indications and were admitted to Gongyi People's Hospital and Tianjin Huanhu Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were divided into control group and observation group based on differences in surgical treatment measures, with 21 patients in each group. Two groups of patients were treated with carotid stent placement and carotid endarterectomy, respectively. The rates of postoperative carotid artery stenosis recanalization, perioperative complications, and 1-year follow-up cardiovascular events between two groups of patients were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05)in the reperfusion rate of carotid artery stenosis between the control group and the observation group. There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of perioperative complications between the control group and the observation group(P>0.05).After one-year follow-up,there was no statistically significant difference in the number of cardiovascular events between the control group and the observation group in the last follow-up(P>0.05).Conclusion Carotid endarterectomy has a high success rate for recanalization of extracranial carotid artery stenosis, and the associated adverse risk during treatment is low, which is of great value for the effectiveness and safety of treatment for patients.
