Effect of intensified Nursing Intervention guided by Symptom Management Theory on Patients with middle and lower thoracic esophageal Cancer
Objective To explore the impact of symptom management theory guided intensified nursing intervention on postoperative recovery and risk of complications in patients with middle and lower thoracic esophageal cancer. Methods A total of 64 patients with middle and lower thoracic esophageal cancer who underwent surgery at Luoyang Yiluo Hospital from February 2021 to December 2022 were selected and divided into two groups using a random number table method, with 32 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing methods, while the observation group received intensified nursing interventions guided by symptom management theory. The psychological status, rehabilitation status, quality of life, incidence of complications, and nutritional indicators were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing, the psychological state scores(anxiety, depression, extraversion, introversion)of both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The time of first exhaust, the time of eating, the time of getting out of bed and the time of hospitalization in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, and the times of using analgesics in the observation group were less than those in the control group(P<0.05).After nursing, the quality of life scores(role function, physical function, social function, emotional function, and overall quality of life)of both groups improved, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group(3.12%)was lower than that in the control group(18.75%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After nursing, both groups showed an increase in albumin(ALB)and hemoglobin(Hb)values, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Intensive nursing interventions guided by symptom management theory can improve the psychological status and nutritional indicators of patients with lower thoracic esophageal cancer after surgery, accelerate recovery speed, reduce the occurrence of complications, and improve quality of life.
