Investigation and Study on the Reasons for the Failure of Blood primary Screening in Machine Collected Platelet Donors
Objective To investigate the reasons for the failure of blood primary screening in mechanically collected platelet donors.Methods A total of 480 mechanically collected platelet donors from the central blood station of Zhumadian from June 2022 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects.Before donating single platelet samples,all donors collected 4 ml of elbow vein blood and underwent initial blood sample screening.The blood screening results were determined according to the 2019 edition of the Blood Station Technical Regulations,and 480 mechanically collected platelet donors were counted for their initial blood screening results and items that did not pass the initial screening;Additionally,the items that did not pass the initial screening between males and females were compared.Results A total of 480 cases were screened,of which 40 cases were found to have failed the initial blood screening,with a failure rate of 8.33%;In the initial screening of mechanically collected platelet donors,17.50%were found to have an alanine aminotransferase(ALT)detection value＞50 U/L,25.00%were found to have a platelet count detection value＜150×109/L,25.00%were found to have a hematocrit(HCT)detection value＜0.36,2.50%were found to have a hemoglobin(Hb)detection value unqualified,15.00%were found to have a white blood cell count(WBC)detection value unqualified,12.50%were found to have a chyle blood count detection value unqualified,and 2.50%were found to be positive for hepatitis B virus surface antigen(HBsAg);There was a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05)in the unqualified rate of ALT detection value＞50 U/L and Hb detection value between male and female mechanically collected platelet donors in the initial screening of blood,while there was no statistically significant difference(P＞0.05)in the other comparisons.Conclusion The items that do not pass the initial screening of blood donors for machine collected platelets mainly include ALT test values＞50 U/L,platelet count test values＜150×109/L,and HCT test values＜0.36,with the highest proportion.The main items that do not pass the initial screening for males are ALT test values＞50 U/L,and for females,Hb test values are mainly unqualified.
