Application Effect of Kessler Suture Repair in the Treatment of Flexor and Extensor Tendon Rupture of Hand
Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect of Kessler suture repair surgery on flexor and extensor tendon rupture of hand. Methods A total of 84 patients with hand flexor and extensor tendon rupture at Xiangcheng Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into control group and study group according to interval random method, with 42 cases in each group. The control group received routine suture treatment, while the study group received Kessler suture repair treatment. The effectiveness of two treatment groups, the evaluation results of hand joint range of motion before and after treatment[metacarpophalangeal joint(MP),proximal interphalangeal joint(PIP),and distal interphalangeal joint(DIP)],incidence of postoperative complications, and short-term postoperative pain score were compared. Results The effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group, with values of 97.62%and 85.71%,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);There was no statistically significant difference in the evaluation results of hand joint range of motion between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the range of motion of MP,PIP,and DIP in the study group increased compared to those before treatment, the range of motion in the study group was larger than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);The incidence of postoperative complications in the study group was lower than that in the control group, with rates of 4.76%and 21.63%,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);On the 2nd,4th,6th,and 8th day after surgery, the pain score in the surgical area was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with conventional suture methods,Kessler suture repair is more effective for the treatment of hand flexor extensor tendon rupture. It has advantages such as fewer postoperative complications, lower postoperative pain, and better recovery of joint range of motion. It is worth applying.
