Analysis of the Therapeutic Efficacy of Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis in the Treatment of Elderly Patients with End-stage Renal Disease
Objective To study the effects of peritoneal dialysis(PD)and hemodialysis(HD)on renal function,cardiac function,and oxidative stress injury indicators in elderly patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD).Methods A total of 125 elderly ESRD patients who were examined in the Department of Nephrology,Pingdingshan First People's Hospital from February 2020 to February 2023 were selected as the research targets.They were divided into groups using a random number table method,with 62 in the control group receiving HD treatment and 63 in the observation group receiving PD treatment.Both groups of patients continued treatment for 6 months,and data were collected after 6 months to compare the renal function,cardiac function-related indicators,and oxidative stress injury indicators of the two groups of patients.Results The improvement in the levels of glomerular filtration rate(GFR),serum creatinine(SCr),and blood urea nitrogen(BUN)in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction,cardiac index,stroke volume,and left ventricular posterior wall thickness in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the improvement in malondialdehyde(MDA),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and serum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)levels in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion PD has a significant effect on the treatment of elderly ESRD patients,and can improve renal function,cardiac function-related indicators,and oxidative stress injury indicators by clearing blood toxin components,promoting lipid metabolism,and reducing the release of inflammatory factors.The effect is significant and worth clinical application.
