Clinical Value of Two-Way Referral Model for Graded Diagnosis and Treatment in the Management of Elderly Patients with Osteoporosis
Objective To investigate the clinical value of a two-way referral model for graded diagnosis and treatment in the management of elderly patients with osteoporosis. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with osteoporosis admitted to Qingyang Second People's Hospital from October 2021 to October 2022 were selected as the study subjects.Patients were divided into an observation group(50 cases)and a control group(50 cases)based on different diagnosis and treatment management models, where the observation group underwent a two-way referral model for graded diagnosis and treatment, while the control group received conventional diagnosis and treatment management.Bone mineral density values of the femoral neck and lumbar vertebrae(L1—L2 and L3—L4)before and after intervention were compared between the two groups.Levels of bone metabolism indicators[serum alkaline phosphatase(ALP),serum calcium, and bone calcium]before and after intervention were recorded. The quality of life of patients before and after intervention was assessed using the Quality of Life Questionnaire for Osteoporosis(COQOL).Results After intervention, the bone mineral density values of the femoral neck and lumbar vertebrae(L1—L2 and L3—L4)in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, serum ALP levels were lower, and serum calcium and bone calcium levels were higher in the observation group compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention,COQOL scores for pain symptoms, physical function, social activity ability, and psychological well-being were lower in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The two-way referral model for graded diagnosis and treatment used in the follow-up management of elderly patients with osteoporosis can help improve bone metabolism and bone density levels, and enhance patient quality of life.
