Effect of posterior nasal Nerve Resection on Patients with recurrent Sinusitis and Polyps
Objective To analyze the impact of posterior nasal nerve resection on patients with recurrent sinusitis and polyps. Methods A total of 76 patients with recurrent sinusitis and polyps treated from June 2020 to December 2023 were included as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into two groups using a single or even number drawing method, with 38 odd numbered patients assigned to the control group for functional endoscopic surgery;Another 38 even numbered individuals were enrolled in the study group and underwent functional endoscopic surgery combined with posterior nasal nerve resection for treatment. The disease recurrence rate,sino-nasal outcome test-20(SNOT-20)score,Lund-Kennedy nasal endoscopy score, and serum inflammatory factor C-reactive protein(CRP)levels were compared between two groups within one year before and after treatment. Results The disease recurrence rate within 1 year after surgery in the study group(2.63%)was lower than that in the control group(31.58%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in SNOT-20 scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the SNOT-20 scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the SNOT-20 scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);There was no statistically significant difference in the Lund-Kennedy nasal endoscopy scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the Lund Kennedy nasal endoscopy scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the Lund-Kennedy nasal endoscopy scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);There was no statistically significant difference in CRP levels between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the CRP levels in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the study group was lower than the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with recurrent sinusitis and polyps who undergo posterior nasal nerve resection surgery can reduce the recurrence rate of the disease, reduce disease-related symptoms, and lower inflammatory factors, which is worthy of application.
