Comparison of the Accuracy of Puncture Biopsy and Postoperative Pathologic Examination of Paraffin Sections for the Differential Diagnosis of Ovarian Tumors
Objective To analyze the accuracy of puncture biopsy and postoperative paraffin section pathology examination in the differential diagnosis of ovarian tumors. Methods A total of 60 patients with ovarian tumors admitted to Nanyang Medical College First Affiliated Hospital between February 2020 and May 2022 were selected for inclusion in this study.Following surgical intervention, puncture biopsy was performed on each patient, and the lesion tissue specimens were taken for paraffin section pathology examination. The results of the two modalities were then compared. Results A total of 60 ovarian tumor tissues were collected for pathological examination. The results of the postoperative examination revealed that 50 cases were malignant and 10 cases were benign. The results of the puncture biopsy indicated that 48 cases were malignant and 12 cases were benign. The accuracy rate of the puncture biopsy in the differential diagnosis of ovarian tumors was 93.33%.The results demonstrated a Kappa value of 0.94,indicating a statistically significant difference(P<0.001).Additionally,the puncture biopsy procedure was found to be significantly more time-efficient than the paraffin section examination, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.001).Conclusion Puncture biopsy and postoperative paraffin section pathology have been demonstrated to be highly accurate in the differential diagnosis of ovarian tumors.Furthermore, puncture biopsy is a relatively simple operation with rapid detection capabilities.
