Investigation and Analysis of the Sense of Disease Shame and Social Support Needs of Family Members of Patients with Schizophrenia
Objective To investigate the sense of disease shame and social support needs of family members of patients with schizophrenia(SCH),and to analyze the correlation between social support needs and the sense of disease shame of family members. Methods The clinical case data of 126 SCH patients admitted to the psychiatric ward of The Second People's Hospital of Shangqiu from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected for investigation and analysis. The Perceived Devaluation-Discrimination Scale(PDD)by Link was used to evaluate the sense of disease shame of family members, and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)was used to assess the social support needs of family members. The general information of 126 patients and their family members was analyzed and compared. The influencing factors related to the sense of disease shame of family members were analyzed by linear regression, and the correlation between social support needs and the sense of disease shame of family members was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results The average score of the sense of disease shame of family members of SCH patients was(2.61±0.82)points,and the average score of social support of family members was(31.03±7.21)points.The sense of disease shame of family members of SCH patients is related to the course of the patient's disease, the number of hospitalizations, and the monthly income of the family members, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).It is not related to the educational level, marital status, work status of the family members, and the age of onset of the patient, and the difference is not statistically significant(P>0.05).Multivariate linear regression analysis found that the lower the social support score and the number of hospitalizations is 3 or more, the higher the sense of disease shame score of family members of SCH patients, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the sense of disease shame of family members of SCH patients was negatively correlated with social support, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Family members of patients with schizophrenia have a serious sense of disease shame, and the score of social support is generally low.The number of hospitalizations is 3 or more, and the low score of social support is an independent risk factor for the sense of disease shame of family members. At the same time, social support is also negatively correlated with the sense of disease shame of family members of SCH patients.Clinically,it can start from strengthening the social support of family members of patients to reduce the sense of disease shame of family members.
