Factors Influencing the Loss of Regular Unpaid Blood Donors and Recruitment Strategies
Objective To explore the factors influencing the loss of regular unpaid blood donors and to formulate recruitment strategies. Methods The data of 2,985 regular unpaid blood donors in our city from January 2018 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The loss of regular unpaid blood donors was statistically analyzed using the Transfusion Safety Standardization Software.Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were conducted to clarify the influencing factors of the loss of regular unpaid blood donors. Results Among the 2,985 regular unpaid blood donors,986 were lost, with a loss rate of 33.03%.The proportion of males, age 18~25 years, education level of high school and below,self-perceived health status not suitable for blood donation,≤1 type of blood donation motivation, not very understanding of blood donation knowledge, and poor blood donation experience in the loss group were all higher than those in the non-loss group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male(OR=3.512),age 18~25 years(OR=3.135),education level of high school and below(OR=2.986),self-perceived health status not suitable for blood donation(OR=5.823),≤1 type of blood donation motivation(OR=4.986),not very understanding of blood donation knowledge(OR=6.576),and poor blood donation experience(OR=7.121)were independent risk factors affecting the loss of regular unpaid blood donors, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Gender, age, education level,self-perceived health status, blood donation motivation, knowledge about blood donation, and blood donation experience will all affect the loss of regular unpaid blood donors. It is necessary to implement targeted recruitment strategies to improve the success rate of recruitment.
