The Impact of VSD Negative Pressure Drainage on Pro-Inflammatory and Wound Healing-Related Factors in Patients with Multi-Space Infections of the Oral and Maxillofacial Region
Objective To explore the impact of vacuum sealing drainage(VSD)on pro-inflammatory and wound healing-related factors in patients with multi-space infections of the oral and maxillofacial region. Methods From January 2021 to January 2023,60 patients with multi-space infections of the oral and maxillofacial region treated at Xinyang Central Hospital were randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received conventional incision and drainage, while the study group received VSD negative pressure drainage.Clinical efficacy, wound pain levels before and after treatment,pro-inflammatory factors[interleukin-6(IL-6),procalcitonin(PCT),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)],wound healing-related factors[platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF),epidermal growth factor(EGF),transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β)],and clinical indicators(maximum abscess diameter, mouth opening)were statistically analyzed for both groups. Results The treatment efficacy in the study group(96.67%)was higher than that in the control group(73.33%),with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The visual analog scale(VAS)scores at 1 day,3 days, and 7 days after treatment were lower than before treatment in both groups, and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The levels of IL-6,PCT,and TNF-α after treatment were lower than before treatment in both groups, and the levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The levels of PDGF after treatment were lower than before treatment in both groups, and the levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while the levels of EGF and TGF-β were higher than before treatment in both groups, and the levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The maximum abscess diameter after treatment was lower than before treatment in both groups, and the diameter in the study group was lower than that in the control group, while the mouth opening was higher than before treatment in both groups, and the opening in the study group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of VSD negative pressure drainage in patients with multi-space infections of the oral and maxillofacial region can effectively reduce wound pain, inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory factors, improve wound healing-related factors, and promote wound repair, showing significant efficacy.
