The Impact of Combined Periodontal-Endodontic Treatment and Simple Periodontal Treatment on Patients with Severe Periodontitis
Objective To explore the impact of combined periodontal-endodontic treatment and simple periodontal treatment on patients with severe periodontitis. Methods From March 2021 to June 2023,98 patients with severe periodontitis, totaling 98 affected teeth, were selected from Xuchang Central Hospital. They were randomly divided into a combined periodontal-endodontic treatment group(observation group)and a simple periodontal treatment group(control group),with 49 affected teeth in each group. The periodontal probing depth(PD),plaque index(PLI),tooth mobility(MD),sulcus bleeding index(SBI),clinical treatment efficacy, pain scores, recurrence, incidence of pulpitis, and treatment satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The treatment efficacy in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After treatment, the PD,PLI,MD,and SBI indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The pain scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after treatment, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The recurrence and incidence of pulpitis in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The treatment satisfaction rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Combined periodontal-endodontic treatment has a significant effect on patients with severe periodontitis, can reduce recurrence and the incidence of pulpitis, and improve patient treatment satisfaction, making it worthy of clinical application.
