Clinical Effect of Clozapine Combined with Lithium Carbonate in the Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Mania
Objective To explore the clinical effect of clozapine combined with lithium carbonate in the treatment of bipolar disorder(BD)mania. Methods Eighty patients with BD mania admitted to Ruzhou Psychiatric Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were selected and randomly divided into a control group(n=40)and a study group(n=40).The control group was treated with lithium carbonate, while the study group was treated with clozapine combined with lithium carbonate. The clinical efficacy, symptom severity[Bech-Rafaelsen Mania Scale(BRMS),Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS)],quality of life[World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale(WHOQOL-100)],and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of treatment in the study group(95.00%)was higher than that in the control group(77.50%),with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After 2 months of treatment,BRMS and PANSS scores in both groups decreased, with the study group scoring lower than the control group, showing statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After 2 months of treatment,WHOQOL-100 scores in both groups increased, with the study group scoring higher than the control group, showing statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the study group(10.00%)and the control group(15.00%)(P>0.05).Conclusion Clozapine combined with lithium carbonate in the treatment of BD mania can improve clinical efficacy, alleviate clinical symptoms, enhance quality of life, and avoid exacerbating adverse reactions.
