Efficacy Observation of Xiao'er Niuhuang Qingxin Powder in Treating Febrile Seizures in Children
Objective To observe the efficacy of Xiao'er Niuhuang Qingxin Powder in treating febrile seizures in children and its effects on blood glucose,lactic acid,and peripheral blood neuron-specific enolase(NSE)levels.Methods Ninety children with febrile seizures treated at Shangshui County People's Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects.They were divided into a control group and an experimental group using the coin toss method,with 45 cases in each group.The control group received conventional treatment,including antipyretic,anti-infection,spasm elimination,nutritional supplementation,and maintenance of water and electrolyte balance.The experimental group received Xiao'er Niuhuang Qingxin Powder in addition to the conventional treatment.The clinical efficacy,recurrence of seizures,duration of fever,blood glucose levels,lactic acid,serum NSE,brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),and central nervous system-specific protein(S-100β)levels were compared between the two groups.Results The effective treatment rate in the experimental group(95.56%)was higher than that in the control group(77.78%),with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).After treatment,the recurrence of seizures and duration of fever in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).After treatment,blood glucose levels in both groups decreased,and the blood glucose levels in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group.Sodium ion levels in both groups increased,and the sodium ion levels in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).After treatment,lactic acid,serum NSE,BDNF,and S-100β levels in both groups decreased,and the levels in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).During the treatment period,there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Xiao'er Niuhuang Qingxin Powder has a good therapeutic effect on febrile seizures in children.It can reduce the frequency of seizures,shorten the duration of fever,and lower blood glucose,lactic acid,serum NSE,BDNF,and S-100β levels.It is safe and worthy of clinical promotion.
