Diagnostic Value of Multimodal High-Field MRI Breast Scanning for Benign and Malignant Breast Lesions
Objective To analyze the clinical value of multimodal high-field magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)breast scanning in diagnosing benign and malignant breast lesions. Methods Clinical data of 79 breast patients who underwent breast MRI examination at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology from January 2022 to December 2023 were collected. All patients received high-field MRI axial T1-weighted imaging(T1WI),fat-suppressed T2-weighted imaging(fs-T2WI),diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI),apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC),and dynamic contrast-enhanced(DCE)imaging after admission. The scanned images were transmitted to the post-processing software workstation to dynamic contrast enchancement-time intensity curve(DCE-TIC)and maximum intensity projection(MIP)images of the lesion areas of interest. The clinical value of multimodal high-field MRI breast scanning in diagnosing benign and malignant breast lesions was analyzed. Results Using histopathological examination results as the gold standard,81 lesions were found in 79 patients, including 44 benign lesions and 37 malignant lesions. Two patients had coexisting lesions:one had a left breast fibroadenoma and a right breast micro-mucinous carcinoma, and one had two lesions in the left breast, including an angioleiomyoma and a phyllodes tumor. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and Youden index of MRI plain scan, dynamic contrast-enhanced scan, and multimodal high-field MRI breast scanning in diagnosing malignant lesions were 72.97%,86.49%,94.59%;54.55%,59.09%,81.82%;62.96%,71.60%,87.65%;and 0.28,0.46,0.76,respectively.Among them, multimodal high-field MRI breast scanning had the highest diagnostic efficiency for malignant breast lesions, with sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and Youden index of 94.59%,81.82%,87.65%,and 0.76,respectively,which were higher than those of single breast MRI plain scan or dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging. Conclusion Both single breast plain scan and DCE examination have certain limitations.Multimodal high-field MRI breast scanning has better diagnostic efficiency for benign and malignant breast lesions, with higher accuracy in diagnosing malignant breast lesions, and has high clinical value in differentiating benign and malignant breast lesions.
