Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiation in Ovulation Induction for Infertility in PCOS Patients
Objective To observe the role of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation in ovulation induction in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 90 cases of PCOS infertility patients treated at Zhoukou Yongshan Hospital from August 2014 to August 2020.Statistics were gathered on the natural conception cycles of outpatient ovulation induction under the routine application of letrozole combined with gonadotropin(GN)stimulation.Based on treatment methods, patients were divided into the TCM syndrome differentiation group, the kidney-tonifying and spleen-strengthening formula group, and the non-TCM group. The study compared the three groups in terms of GN usage, the number of follicles with diameters greater than 18 mm,and pregnancy rates. Results The TCM syndrome differentiation group had the lowest average usage of GN at about 450 U,followed by the kidney-tonifying and spleen-strengthening formula group at about 675 U,and the non-TCM group with the highest at about 825 U.There was no statistically significant difference in the number of follicles greater than 18 mm in diameter among the three groups(P>0.05).However,pregnancy rates differed significantly among the groups(P<0.05),with the TCM syndrome differentiation group achieving the highest pregnancy rate(44.00%),followed by the kidney-tonifying and spleen-strengthening formula group(23.81%),and the non-TCM group(18.75%).The pregnancy rates in both the TCM syndrome differentiation group and the kidney-tonifying and spleen-strengthening formula group were significantly higher than those in the non-TCM group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Letrozole combined with GN and TCM syndrome differentiation can improve pregnancy rates and reduce GN usage.
