Analysis of the Clinical Value of Montelukast Sodium in the Treatment of Cough Variant Asthma in Children
Objective To explore the effects of montelukast sodium treatment in children with cough variant asthma. Methods A total of 80 children diagnosed with cough variant asthma admitted to Tianjin Children's Hospital from August 2021 to August 2023 were selected for this study. They were randomly divided into a control group(40 cases, receiving conventional treatment)and a study group(40 cases, receiving montelukast sodium treatment in addition to conventional treatment). The treatment outcomes of the two groups were compared. Results The effective treatment rate in the study group(95.00%)was higher than that in the control group(80.00%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the pulmonary function parameters of both groups increased compared to before treatment, and the levels of inflammatory factors decreased compared to before treatment.Furthermore, the pulmonary function parameters in the study group were significantly higher and the inflammatory factor levels were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The time taken for cough, lung rales, fever, and wheezing to disappear in the study group was shorter than that in the control group, with all differences reaching statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of montelukast sodium in children with cough variant asthma effectively improves treatment outcomes, enhances pulmonary function, reduces inflammatory responses, and shortens the duration of clinical symptoms, making it a valuable option for clinical practice.
