Efficacy Analysis of Metal Preformed Crowns in the Restoration of Proximal Caries in Children's Primary Molars
Objective To investigate the efficacy of metal preformed crowns in the restoration of proximal caries in children's primary molars. Methods A total of 76 children who received restoration treatment for proximal caries in primary molars at The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University from January 2022 to January 2024 were selected. They were randomly divided into a control group(resin filling restoration)and a study group(metal preformed crown restoration),with 38 cases in each group. The restoration effects, chewing function, occlusal ability, and occurrence of recent complications were compared between the two groups. Results The excellent restoration rate in the study group(94.74%)was higher than that in the control group(76.32%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in chewing efficiency between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment, both groups showed an increase in chewing efficiency compared to before treatment, with the study group having a significantly higher efficiency than the control group(P<0.05).Prior to treatment, there were no significant differences in maximum bite force and maximum occlusal area between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, both groups exhibited an increase in maximum bite force and maximum occlusal area compared to before treatment, with the study group demonstrating significantly higher values than the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications within 6 months after treatment in the study group(5.26%)was lower than that in the control group(23.68%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to resin filling restoration, the use of metal preformed crowns in the restoration of proximal caries in children's primary molars results in better restoration outcomes, promotes recovery of chewing function and occlusal ability, and reduces the risk of related complications in the short term, while also demonstrating high treatment efficacy and safety.
