Functional feeding groups of summer macroinvertebrates in Dabang River,Guizhou
To elucidate the characteristics of functional feeding groups within river macroinvertebrate communities in karstic landscapes, our study focused on the Dabang River in Guizhou Province. In August 2022,we obtained data on river habitat and water quality factors at each sample site. The composition and spatial distribution of FFGs and ecosystem functions in different river classes were analyzed, and the major environmental factors affecting FFGs and ecosystem functions were investigated using ranking analysis. The result shows that a total of 102 macroinvertebrate species were collected in Dabang River in the summer and 38,30,10,17 and 7 species of gather-collectors,scrapers,filter-collectors,predators and shredders were present, with relative abundances of 23.27%,47.88%,16.47%,10.71%,and 1.67%,respectively.The dominant functional feeding groups of macroinvertebrate communities varied significantly between river classes;the results of redundancy analysis showed that the major environmental factors affecting the number of functional feeding groups were Ca2+,NH4+,HCO3-,Na+,water temperature, and river channel change.Conversely, the major environmental factors affecting ecosystem functions were NH4+,HCO3-,NO3-,bank stability, and vegetation diversity. This study showed that the functional feeding groups of macroinvertebrates in the Dabang River were dominated by scraps. Moreover, the concentration of HCO3 was an important factor influencing the number of functional feeding groups and ecosystem functions in the area.
