According to the existing corpus data,dengyushuo(等于说)is regarded as a commentary marker from the adverbialization of positive phrases.This paper holds the view that the core function of dengyushuo(等于说)comes from the operation of focus.In terms of pragmatic function,it has the characteristics of textual cohesion,focus prominence,expectation-marking and the expression of cognitive modality,with the calculation of the left-bound proposition in semantic form through operators.The semantic diversion of dengyu(等于)and the focus analysis of the metaphorical cognitive framework brought by X-shuo(X说)form the dengyushuo(等于说)that we use today.The core issues to be solved in this paper are the characteristics on the focus of dengyushuo(等于说)in various syntactic environments,the relationship between focus and its function realization,and the role of focus in its path of development.
