The modal particle ie(吔)in Zunyi dialect can serve as a theme marker in declarative sentences,as well as mark counter-expectation and remind relevant facts.ie(吔)can also remind the question point at the end of the question sentence, and request consideration at the end of the imperative sentence. The core function can be summarized as"remind".ie(吔)has three tones:[31],[33],and[55].There are two tones at the end of the same sentence type. The higher the tone, the easier it is to attract the attention of the listener, which is universal. The expression of ie(吔)is basically consistent with that of ne(呢)in Mandarin at the end of declarative and interrogative sentences. At the end of declarative sentences, translation can only be made when the context is contrary to expectations. On the basis of spoken language corpus data, testing description can demonstrate more comprehensively the syntactic and semantic characteristics of modal particles.
