Design and Experiment of Cascade Three Piece Piezoelectric Energy Harvester in Series
A stacked three piece series piezoelectric energy harvester for collecting pressure pulsation energy is proposed to address the drawbacks of short battery life and difficult replacement when low-power electronic components in hydraulic systems are powered by batteries. This effectively solves the aforementioned drawbacks. For this piezoelectric energy harvester, the effects of parameters such as static pressure, pulsation frequency, and load resistance on the energy harvesting characteristics were experimentally analyzed. The results show that when the frequency is the same as the static pressure, the output voltage will increase with the increase of the load resistance and eventually tend to be flat. Moreover, the output voltage will increase with the increase of frequency when the resistance is the same.At a frequency of 100 Hz and a pressure of 3 MPa,the maximum output voltage at 800 kΩ can reach 9.52 V;The output power first increases and then decreases, that is,there is an optimal resistance to achieve the maximum output power, and the load resistance to achieve the maximum output power of the energy harvester varies at different frequencies. At a frequency of 100 Hz and a pressure of 3 MPa,the maximum average output power at 100 kΩ can reach 368.45 μW.
