Operational Characteristics and Energy Efficiency Analysis of Regenerative Retarder Systems for Heavy Duty Vehicles
Heavy-duty vehicles have complex road conditions, and during their long downhill, the temperature of the mechanical brake rises due to long-term work, which is easy to cause brake failure.A hydraulic regenerative retardation system is proposed for 30T heavy-duty vehicles to slow brake, the system is provided with braking torque by hydraulic pump/motor,the accumulator recovers braking kinetic energy and assists the motor to drive the vehicle under acceleration conditions, and the heat dissipation module dissipates heat from the system. The acceleration and braking control strategies during vehicle driving are formulated, and a vehicle system simulation model is established for analysis. The results show that the system can provide sufficient braking torque under different slope conditions, the maximum braking torque can reach 1150 N·m,it has good braking characteristics, and the system oil temperature is also stable at about 60 ℃.The system can drive the recovered braking energy auxiliary motor to the traveling system, and the braking energy recovery rate is 42.4%.
