The starting point,concerning the origin of entities,is fundamentally significant for examining the whole process of events.The academic circle has seen many controversies as for the starting point of Chinese path to modernization,namely,the new era,the reforming and o-pening to the world,the founding of People's Republic of China,the founding of the Communist Party of China,the May 4th Movement,the Self-strengthening Movement in the latter half of the 19th century,and the Opium War.The divergence stems out of the confusion between the two core concepts of"Chinese Path to Modernization"and"China's Modernization".It is maintained that the starting point of Chinese path to modernization should be the founding of the new China.Seen from the practice,Chinese path to modernization was launched after the founding of People's Republic of China.The same conclusion can be drawn when we refer to the classic state-ments of the Party leaders and the documents of the Party.
