Section design and strength analysis of glass fiber reinforced flexible cold-water pipe
Ocean thermal energy conversion(OTEC)is stable, environmentally friendly and sustain-able,and has good development and utilization value. The design of cold-water pipes is an important part of OTEC power plant construction. In order to reduce the cost,ABAQUS software is used to design the section of a large-diameter glass fiber reinforced flexible cold-water pipe with a diameter of 1 m.The ORCAFLEX software is used to analyze the overall stress of the cold-water pipe with slow wave layout, and the cold-water pipe is segmented by depth according to the overall force analysis results. The local analysis model is established by ABAQUS software to calculate the minimum number of fiber winding layers of the reinforced cold-water pipe to meet the combined load strength requirements of internal pressure, external pressure, tensile load and bending moment. Finally,a method of section design is proposed. The results show that the method of segmented cross-section design can greatly reduce the amount of fiber reinforced layer material and reduce the production cost of cold-water pipe.It provides a reference for the design of large-diameter glass fiber reinforced cold-water pipe.
