Removal of ciprofloxacin from water by activating persulfate with nano zero-valent iron loaded on Enteromorpha prolifera biochar
A kind of biochar supported nano zero-valent iron material(nZVI@BC)with high remov-al performance is prepared by liquid phase reduction method using E.prolifera biochar as carrier.nZVI@BC is used as persulfate(PS)activating material for the removal of ciprofloxacin(CIP)from water.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffractometer(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)are employed to analyze the apparent morphology, particle size, crystalline structure and chemical morphology of the materials. The results show that the loading of BC effectively improves the dispersion of nZVI and provides more reactive sites.Under the conditions of BC/Fe mass ratio of 2∶1,nZVI@BC dosage of 0.6 g·L-1,PS addition of 2 mmol·L-1,and CIP mass concentration of 10 mg·L-1,the removal rate of CIP reaches 91.45%within 60 min.The results of free radical burst and electron paramag-netic resonance prove that the removal of CIP mainly depends on the strong oxidation of SO4-·,·OH,·O2- and 1O2 free radicals,with·O2- playing a major role.
