To investigate the effects of feed intake and backfat thickness on reproductive performance of sows at different stages of pregnancy. This study selected 383 Landrace*Large White sows and measured their backfat thickness and reproductive performance at different pregnancy stages. The effects of backfat thickness at different pregnancy stages on reproductive performance were analyzed,as well as the effects of different feeding patterns on backfat thickness and reproductive performance for sows with abnormal body conditions. The results showed that there was a correlation between backfat thickness of pregnant sows and total number born, number born alive, birth weight(P<0.05).The ideal backfat thickness ranges at 0,30,60,90,and 110 days of pregnancy stages were 16~18,16~18,18~20,18~20 mm,and 18~20 mm respectively.By adjusting the feeding curve of pregnant sows with abnormal body condition, the performance indexes such as total litter size, live litter number and average weight at first birth of piglets can be significantly improved(P<0.05).In conclusion, the reproductive performance of Landrace*Large White sows can be improved by adjusting the backfat thickness within a reasonable range through feed intake regulation at different gestation stages.
